Right in Ocean View Beach, Norfolk. The Beach Cats event of the

2008 ST. JUDE HAMPTON ROADS REGATTA, August 2, 2008

WE HAVE AN AWESOME LAUNCH and HANGOUT AREA! We will launch and register at the East Beach Club House Friday evening or Saturday morning. This location guarantees 100% sailing and fun.

This year the Regatta includes the Little Creek Cup, Power Boats, Flounder Fishing Tournament and for the Third Year,

    Beach Catamaran Race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   That’s us!!!!!!!

There is a Friday evening (~6:30PM) Captain’s Social at the Paradocks Grille and a great Saturday Post-Regatta party also at Paradocks Grille.

All for a great cause! The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

August 1st – 2nd, 2008

This race is an opportunity for the sailing community to show its support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Prizes and awards will be given to the top crew and top individual fundraisers.  Join us for a good time and a RACE for the children!

 

Registration:   $50.00 includes 2 wrist bands and 2 meal tickets for the Saturday night post-race party, 2 t-shirts and 1 ditty bag.

Entries:   Friday at the Skippers’ Meeting/Captain’s Social or Saturday 7-9:00 AM at launch site. Checks payable to “St. Jude”.

August 1, 5-7:00 PM at East Beach Bay Front Club, 4550 East Beach Dr., Norfolk, VA or Saturday, August 2, 7-9:00 AM at Ships Cabin Beach Access, 4110 East Beach Dr., Norfolk, VA.

Skippers’ Meeting: Regatta Meeting & Social on Friday, August 1, 7:00 PM at Bay Point Marina. Beach Cats skippers’ meeting Saturday, August 2, 8:30 AM on the beach at the Ships Cabin Beach Access.

Classes: Beach Catamarans will be started as an open class and scored using the Portsmouth Yardstick Handicap Rules.

Courses:  Course information available at the Skipper’s Meeting.

Time: First Flag = Saturday, August 2, 9:30 AM

Rules: Races will be governed by the USSA Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, the Sailing Instructions, and this Notice of Race.

Results:  Posted at www.broadbaysailing.org & at the post-race party.

Awards/Social: Awards ceremony Saturday, August 2, 6:45 PM at the post-race party at Bay Point Marina, 9500 30th Bay Ave., Norfolk, VA.

Registration: $75.00 includes 2 wrist bands and 2 meal tickets for the Saturday night post-race party, 2 t-shirts, one ditty bag, and continental breakfast for crew on Saturday morning. Additional party tickets and t-shirts will be available at the door.

Entries: Due by July 30, 2008. Entries received by July 1 will be eligible for a special prize drawing to be held at the skippers’ meeting. Mail regatta entry form (available from the websites below) or standard CBYRA entry form with t-shirt order, PHRF certificate, and the $75 registration fee (checks payable to St. Jude) to:

Skippers’ Meeting: Check-In @ 1830 hours – Skippers’ Meeting @ 1900 hours on Friday, August 1, 2008, at Bay Point Marina • 9500 30th Bay St. • Norfolk, Virginia. Captains’ Social immediately following.

Classes: PHRF A, B, C, N (single headsail only), as well as Cruising (single headsail only), and beach cat (different venue – contact Waldo Rodriguez - vaplayero@cox.net for details). The Cruising class is open to all boats that do not have a valid PHRF rating and/or skippers who race only occasionally. A courtesy rating shall be assigned by the race committee, if needed, and shall not be subject to redress.

Courses: Courses will start off Ocean View and consist of drop mark and/or government
marks. Further course information and mark locations will be available in the Sailing Instructions and at the Skippers’ Meeting.

Time: First Flag = 1030 hours

Rules: Races will be governed by the USSA Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, the
Sailing Instructions, and this Notice of Race.

Results: Will be posted at www.broadbaysailing.org and at the post-race party.

Awards/Social: Awards will be presented to the top 3 boats in each class as well as an award for the best time as re-calculated using donation-adjusted ratings. The awards ceremony will be Saturday evening at 1845 hours at the post-race party at Bay
Point Marina.
