What: This unique combined maritime event involves sailing, power boating and fishing
enthusiasts in two weekends of fun while raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The Hampton Roads Regatta (formerly the Little Creek Regatta) is the only combination sailboat, cruising and fishing event on the Chesapeake Bay. Over the 12-year history of the event, the Regatta has raised over 1 million dollars for cancer research. It is dedicated to the vision of not only a cure, but a total elimination of all types of cancer.
Why: The purpose of the Hampton Roads Regatta is to raise money for children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases, while enjoying a 2 weekends on the water. By joining together in this unique maritime event with one of the world's premier children's charities, you will participate in a fun, yet worthwhile, event by helping the patients at St. Jude. No child is ever turned away because of an inability to pay, thanks to the generosity of its participants.
Where: The 2008 Regatta will be held the weekends of August 2nd and August 9th at Bay Point Marina in Norfolk, VA.
How: Skippers register their boats, recruit their friends and colleagues to help crew, and to solicit funds. Skippers and crewmembers seek donations from friends, family, and coworkers and employers to sponsor their boat. The Committee seeks national and local Event sponsors who are willing to actively support the Regatta with sponsor dollars and support marketing.
Audience: Boating Enthusiast (both male and female) having the desire to raise funds for to continue the research of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Exposure: Media outreach, advertising, direct mail and Internet exposure will be generated. In Addition, participants will contact individuals donors and hundreds of spectators willenjoy our high profile event.
